Tap water in large parts of North and South Holland contains more PFAS than recommended by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). This is the conclusion reached by Greenpeace following an analysis of data from the ten Dutch drinking water companies. High PFAS levels were found particularly in North Holland.
Drought is making natural mineral water both more popular and scarcer at the same time. The paradox is simple. A hot summer increases demand for cold drinks, but the same heat and low rainfall put pressure on springs and local water systems. And consumers feel the impact most clearly through the price per litre.
The hot and dry summer in France is causing problems for mineral water producers. Volvic, for example, has had to take measures to protect its water source. Vittel and Perrier are also facing problems related to their water sources.
